What problem(s) should I be prepared to encounter as a blind student in a geography class? What was the most difficult problem(s) that you encountered? How did you get around these problems? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
i think the main problem with geography, (or for any other subject) is diagrams.
even if you had them in braille, i still found it really difficult to tell the diffrents of the shapes.
hmmm, i can't think of anything else at the moment, but if i do, i'll post to this thread again
I didn't do geography at school because we didn't have a teacher when I was here. I would liked to have done geography.
I think the biggest dificulty I had in geography was dealing with the tactile maps. Especially those that require showing topographical information as well as where things are in relationship to one another. Basicaly, the complicated maps were the biggest dificulty I had.
In geography I have trouble finding good mapps. That is one problem that I really didn't get around so my aid drew some with hot glue.
Geography is an easy course. I mean easier than Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. I'm currently taking this course. Its not so bad as I thought it would be. I think, it depends on your instructor and how he approaches this topic. Its hard because you would have to be a visual person to understand some concepts, but if you read the book and listen to the lectures you'll do well. If your not a visual person, try to relate this course to other subjects such as traveling, mobility and your day to day activities. You will find it useful and it will be easier for you to understand the concepts.
